Navigating Success Togther
Aspire is a careers focussed intervention programme designed to reengage students who are at risk of becoming NEET with their learning and future aspirations. This programme joins together existing support networks to create a bespoke series of employer encounters that are relevant and impactful for the student.
Becoming NEET has far reaching impacts on both the individual and society. Equally, being permanently excluded or suspended increases the risk of becoming NEET creating a cycle of disadvantage. If a child becomes NEET they become more difficult to reach and are significantly more likely to remain economically inactive, further reducing their opportunity and increasing their isolation. By intervening early, we strive to prevent students becoming NEET and support them to achieve the qualifications required for a purposeful and sustained post 16 progression

Working with

Target cohort identified using the risk of NEET indicators and schools knowledge of their cohort. Emphasis is put on a student's history of attendance, behaviour and attainment.
Extra guidance is arranged for each student; in these meetings they are supported to identify their interests and careers/ sectors that relate to these interests. Students share what would help them in understanding what they would like to pursue in the future.
Careers leader creates a profile on each student , collating data from the future skills questionnaire, careers guidance meetings and other information such as Unifrog. Sectors of interest are identified.
Careers Leader identifies sectors/ careers of interest and shares this with the South Yorkshire Careers Hub , including details of suitable dates & what the students would like to gain from this experience.
The South Yorkshire Careers Hub facilitates a bespoke workplace visit for these students, students spend half a day at a workplace of interest, learn what it is like to do this job and routes into it. The aim of this visit is to raise aspirations of the student and to give them and attainable vision of their future.
Following their visit, inclusion leads and careers professionals work with each student to explore their post 16 progression options. Potential for further visits and workplace experiences are explored.
